WPS Half Marathon

April 20, 2016

Why do we host this event? Meet Joanne Schiewe.

Last year I had the pleasure of meeting Jo. Jo and I share a passion for Ironman Triathlon and she had just complete Ironman Boulder in the summer of 2015. Ironman is no easy feat and Jo clearly was the right personality to tackle such an event. Then, 6 months to the day, she was diagnosed with Stage IV Glioblastoma-Brain Cancer.

Jo came on board to help us raise awareness for our cause, but specifically the Brain Canada Trust. It is a federally funded research group that directs efforts to researching treatment-for brain cancer. In fact, until 2019, they will match every dollar we raise!

Last year, Jo had chemo treatment then did the 2 Person Relay Event-the same day!

Even while in a battle for her life, Jo will be back this year to take on the Half Marathon.

Let us support her, by visiting her Athlete Dashboard and donating! Please click here.

So, thank you to Jo for being such a strong advocate of our event and reminding us all, the reason why.
